What is BIW?

Welcome to Brandywine in White … a unique and elegant pop-up summer evening for ‘BYO’ Wine and Food enthusiasts. Guests dress in their trendiest white outfits, provide their own picnic basket dinner, wine, centerpiece, and ambiance.

This year, join us on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 5:30 to 10:30 pm. As you know, we can’t say where this is except that it’s in the Wilmington/Brandywine area. Rain or Shine.

Here are a few FAQ’s to answer any of your questions:

What is Brandywine in White?

Brandywine in White is an elegant, pop-up summer gathering for “BYO” wine and food enthusiasts. Guests dress in all white and arrive at a secret outdoor location with a picnic dinner (as extravagant or as simple as you like…but extravagant is always more fun.) This year we are providing a place setting, and guests bring their own food, wine, flowers, napkins and anything else needed to create a chic white event.

When is it?

The event begins promptly at 5:30 pm Saturday, August 21st. Guests are asked to finish setting up their picnics by 6:30/7 pm so dinner and music can begin. The party goes until 10pm and you will return to your car by 10:30 pm.

Secret location? OK, really, where is it?

We’re not saying! Well, what we will say is that we have a beautiful spot picked out in the Brandywine area. The location will be released by email to ticket holders at 5pm Thursday, August 19th, about 48 hours before the event begins. Just know that the event will be held rain or shine!!

How can I attend?

Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets–https://biw2021.brownpapertickets.com/. Attendance is limited, so buy your tickets before they’re sold out!

What does the event benefit?

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit a charity or non-profit organization to be named in the near future. *Guests can also make a monetary donation, postage-paid envelopes will be provided as volunteers cannot accept cash donations.

Organizers of Brandywine In White prepare the event on a profit model and distribute proceeds after expenses to a charity or non-profit organization. Organizers of BIW are volunteers and do not receive compensation.

Do I have to bring my own table and chairs?

You do not! Due to the location, we will provide tables set with a white tablecloth, white chairs, and a place setting which is included in your ticket purchase. Tickets are sold on a per person basis and you can sit with your group or with the community–just let us know when you purchase your tickets.

Baskets are allowed table side during dinner, but large plastic containers, colored totes, etc. will not be allowed around the table area after set-up time is over. We will have a “behind the scenes” staging area to store such things during the dinner.

Food must be prepared ahead of time as there is no cooking allowed on site.

Can I sit with my friends?

You certainly can! You can buy everyone’s tickets together in a single purchase by purchasing a table(s), or simply let us know who you would like to sit with on the check-out screen when you buy your tickets. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. Please remember that the tables seat a maximum of eight people. Share with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and let them know you are going! There will be a photographer on hand taking photos of people and tables.

How serious are you about this “white” thing?

We are serious about the white thing. Dress should be all white, and white should be the dominant color of decorations, centerpieces and other ambiance at your table. (Accent colors are allowed in moderation.) Prizes will be awarded for the most elegantly white tables.

Can we bring candles?

Candles are not allowed at the venue this year-electronic ones are though! Please be courteous.

What about clean-up? Other housekeeping bits?

Please be prepared to take out everything that you came in with. We recommend that you bring trash bags for the end of the night. We also recommend bringing bug spray and a flashlight. Toilet facilities will be provided on site. Also, please note that Brandywine in White is a completely non-smoking event.

What if it rains?

Brandywine in White happens August 21st, rain or shine.

I don’t have time to make a picnic dinner! Any ideas?

Of course. If you don’t want to prepare food, Montrachet Fine Foods at The Centreville Café can provide basket options. Call Montrachet at (302) 425-5808.

Can I sponsor the event?

There are a limited number of sponsorship opportunities available with great benefits for your business or entity. Please inquire at https://brandywineinwhite.home.blog/contact/

This is a wonderful venue to be social, meet some new people, and have fun!
